Bible Reading Plans

Time in God's Word - Absolutely Vital to Christian Life!

It is absolutely vital that you spend time reading God's Word EVERYDAY.  There is no one right way.  This page is meant to give you some helpful pointers and provide resources to guide you.

First Step: Commit and be Persistent

Commit to reading the Bible each day.
Choose a time of the day and protect it.
Most reading plans are numbered Day 1, 2, etc. If you miss a day, just keep reading and catch up as time allows.
Don't read to study every detail but read the Bible as God's Big Story and see the little stories within the entirety.
HOWEVER, always obey the prompting of the Holy Spirit.  If so led to stop, ponder, and reflect--then do so!!!!

Second: Mix-It Up!

If you have read the same version of the Bible for years, mix it up and read a different translation.  You will be blessed to see God's Word from a different angle of perspective and God will open scripture to your fresh eyes.

Pastor Notes:
- I read from one version for two years and then change it up.
- For newer Christians, I recommend you start with a thought-for-thought translation. They are the easiest to read and understand.
- Each translation brings strengths and weaknesses.
-- Word-for-word can be harder to read; thought-for-thought can sometimes take too much liberty in meaning.
-- When you study, use at least two versions, one word-for-word and one thought-for-thought translation.
-- Use spiritual caution and discernment if reading a paraphrase version.
- As always pray for the Holy Spirit to lead you into all Truth!
